Built by George and Alexander Eadie when they began their first building development in Mount Florida during the 1870's.
Described as 'the spectacular block of Hampden Terrace with a plantation of trees bordering the Parish Road' - Prospecthill Road.
Originally there were Mounting Blocks at the Sweetheart stairways on the carriageway - which still has no pavement for pedestrians.
One of the Eadie brothers had a an interest in the formation of Queen's Park Football Club and when the first Clubhouse was built in 1873, the Committee chose to name it Hampden after the Terrace which overlooked their playing area.
